Papervision3D 2.0 got some basic but very cool shading possibilities. In combination with the FLARToolKit and only 2 textures you can build some nice effects. For sure I know the proportion between the 2 planets are quite false but let's disregard that.

FLARmagnet

This example shows what kind of augmented reality solutions I like to focus. The main difference between most samples is the interaction between 3D objects inside the "virtual world". In this case for sure it is just very simple but hey... this is just my second tryout ;-)

AR is available for the Adobe Flash technology since Saqoosha did a port (FLARToolKit) from the NyARToolkit. Many samples and tutorials were released since then and everytime I have seen one of these my intension to build my own one becomes greater. Last week I stumbled upon a new project called FLARManager from Eric Socolofsky. This library allows you to easily implement FLARToolKit into your project and use multiple markers - I really appreciate that.

Site

Since we heard about the end of Joomla v1.0.x after this summer we made the decision to migrate our site quickly to v1.5.x before we get some serious problems. We thought about that a long time ago but the amount of tasks which come along with a migration has always get us frightened. Not only the fresh design characterize our new site... we just throw away some really old stuff and articles and implemented some new modules. We restructured our articles so all comments are gone... we're sorry for that!

We hope everything is fine and all links are back online. Please feel free to contact us or write a comment to the affected article. Feedback is also welcome!

This 3D transition is very simple but has a neat look. It was inspired by some transitions seen on TV. The first image is divided into tiles that were mapped onto several cubes aligned as a grid. These cubes were rotated and rearranged so that they build a new grid from a different angle (90 degrees offset) with a second image.

The source code is available and commented. Hope you like it!
