Today I played a 3D racing game... never mind? Ok, the reason why I write this was especially the "replay" after the race. Everybody who ever played 3D racing games know this and remembers the view from many cameras placed around the track replaying the whole race. These cameras rotate to focus a car, zoom in and out and also switch to the next camera when the distance from the car is closer that one. So this is what I built with PV3D. I placed 3 different cameras (front, diagonal and side), a plane (for the base) and a cube. The cube moves and rotates via the Tweener class.

I decided to combine my first steps on Papervision3D with my latest experiments. The result is a 3D visualization of the sound spectrum. At first my idea was to use a fixed texture (material) but it expands itself to fit to the assigned face. That's why it uses a coloring function to tint the cubes at their amplitude. To do an flight around the scene I choose the Tweener class for smooth bezier moves.

About 1 year ago I saw a demo video of the BumpTop 3D desktop. An amazing project with new fundamental ways to arrange your documents. Until now there has been no public release of it... but you won't believe it until you see this one: tileUI desktop!
Doug McCune build a similar project based on ActionScript. It's absolutely amazing and there's also an interactive demo available. Enjoy!

Good news today! The Joomla team announced the Release Candidate 1 of the OpenSource CMS Joomla 1.5. Hopefully the final version will be available in September. With the new architecture we're looking forward to build some Flash-enabled modules. For sure our site will have a makeover. Thanks to the whole team and the great community for their work!
