I just played around with the geometry of 3D objects in Papervision3D and built a simple example on how to easily modify the vertices of them. It is able to morph between 2 3D objects (cylinder and sphere). The process can be setup with a slider or automatically via the animation controls. I know there are some messy lines at the top of the final step inside the sphere but this is just a technical demonstration. You should be able to fix this with some extra lines of code.
